Why It's Important

Much has been accomplished

The Open Door Fund is one of only and handful of LGBT endowed funds in the country. This means that money is not only available now but is a permanent legacy for future generations. The endowment is currently just over $550,000. This amount, together with our annual fundraising event, enable us to grant $35,000-$45,000 each year. Many of our grantees including OUT Boulder, PFLAG, Boulder County Aging Services, BCAP, Bent Lens Cinema, Colorado Anti-Violence Project and Boulder Valley Safe Schools Coalition have been able to expand their programs and have greater impact because of our funding.

It gets better because LGBT people and our allies invest in making it better now and for generations to come.
