speaker Deirdre McCloskey was
"Donald" until 1995.
A Harvard graduate -- she wishes
it was Radcliffe -- she was
tenured in economics and history
at the University of Chicago,
and taught for 19 years at the
University of Iowa. She is now
a University of Illinois at
Chicago Distinguished Professor
of Economics, History and English.
She has written a dozen books
and about 200 articles on economics,
history, philosophy, statistical
theory, literary criticism,
and gender studies. Her book
"Crossing" was a New
York Times Notable Book in 1999.
She describes herself as a postmodern,
quantitative, free-market, feminist,
Episcopalian, Midwestern, gendercrossing,

A
live and silent auction, special speaker
and a memorable feast were among the
highlights of this benefit for The
Open Door Fund. Monsoon 2002 raised
more money than any previous year.
Thanks to all who supported us!
